Advising Services:While Ascent is engaged in speaking and writing, advising is at the core of our business. Working together one-on-one or in small groups, substantial, tangible and vital growth occurs that makes a lasting and positive difference in your organization and the individuals in it. All of our work is customized to meet your unique needs and circumstances. The list below is but an outline of a few of the more common approaches, but the options for how we can work together are truly limitless. Someone once said that when you become the boss, you’ve been told the truth for the last time. Through customized coaching and mentoring, we can help solve problems, give advice based on years of experience, provide referrals to other resources, and be a friendly and confidential sounding board. As your coach or mentor, we work for you, and give advise with your best interest in mind. The focus can be on your success in life, not just in this job. Board AdvisingIt is difficult to have the diverse talents needed on a board in smaller or closely held companies. An outside advisor is an excellent option for complementing the skills of the board members. Ascent can provide a wide range of expertise on either a short-term or ongoing basis. Executive Advising This is one of our most popular services, and for a very good reason. Many medium and small companies are led by one person (often an owner/manager). That person has few places to turn for objective business advice, or even someone with business skills to use as a sounding board. If there is a board of directors, they have their biases and self-interests that can get in the way. A spouse can help, but only so much. Attorneys and accountants usually do not have the breadth of business experiences to help in all situations. With Ascent's broad business experiences, working with companies from large to small, our Executive Advising service can fill this gap. Through meetings, chats over coffee, or conversations over the phone or email, we can wrestle with issues, brainstorm ideas, organize complicated problems, and find additional resources if needed. Just an hour or two together can often produce great progress and clarity to an otherwise perplexing and persistent issue. Regular meetings can give additional momentum, focus and confidence. We’ve been there before. We don’t speak from some theoretical, untried perspective. Instead, we offer practical advice that we ourselves have learned and applied in years of hands-on experience running companies of many sizes. Ascent can provide the additional resources required to do those important projects that otherwise will never get done.
